(3) Home Away From Home?
Oh how I wish I could join you at
your port in Italy - though our families
came from point A and point B
When not in uniform you’ll
need no disguise to blend in
with the natives -as they say!
In the postcard you sent
colorful town flags are waving
from the harbor of Genoa, Italy
I visit my mother and we
make our own pasta asciutta -
we’ll eat dinner without you...
But when you come home, my hero
we’ll have a picnic +al fresco, esterno
of fried chicken and potato salad!

*pasta asciutta = really covers a variety of pasta shapes
+translates to = a cool, outside; though I think most
believe that al fresco could mean ‘outside’, or for the ‘Arts’
may have another meaning too...according to
the translator al fresco literally means ‘cool’.
