CD 433 Temple 87 and Bonus: Flighty

rainy March morning
cantankerous coven: crows;
murder dawns’ breaking

kaeru loves their tympany
as if bullfrogs sang love songs

tourists without maps
ravens travel noisily
while I sip my tea

©JP/davh

Today I drew inspiration for Chèvrefeuille’s post from
the weather (rainy), and my daily morning piece.
I thought you might enjoy seeing the short verse I
extracted my renga from.

Flighty

The coven of crows cantankerously cawed
the dawn of the last Saturday of March awake,
way too early they murdered the chances of
anyone who was attempting to sleep in!

Circling the sky, briefly landing in the maple,
arguing directions like group of tourists without
a map; they didn’t even stop for breakfast at the
bird feeder - perhaps they already had coffee?

CD 84 : St. James 10

beings change with time,
transform with variants of
reality - faith

rain is cyclical; tears can
ring truth in sadness and joy

faith - reality
is that kaeru is Buddha;
a lesson I teach

imagination captures
my heart and I am transformed
I teach a lesson
frogs can be respected too,
with time beings change

CD 431/82 and 432/84

another mountain
of stone steps, wearing my soles
kaeru breaths with me

two temples, two tales and two
pilgrims reach for glowing stars

kaeru breaths with me
compassion for my frog friend
builds with every day

CD 430 Temple 80

one body many heads
countless arms reaching kaeru
as she sings frog song

how similar are legends
same hero with many names

as she sings frog song
I reach my hand to kaeru
and she hops on board

together we can *sally forth
with taut sails on calm water

and she hops on board
my hand, in the sail pocket
of my pilgrim shirt

©JP/davh

*sally forth a verb that can mean to: set out in a sudden or energetic manner.
Or from the Cambridge online dictionary: to leave a safe place in a brave or confident way in order to do something difficult.

CD 429 Temple 75

we are grateful, frog
and I, to walk the sands here;
the future expands

welcomes all who seek healing
heritage honored, protected

the future expands
kaeru bellows; welcoming
spring, singing with birds

DC 428 Temple 72

428

there is no weather
immersed in chant, thought of nought
there is no whether

kaeru dives; rippling dreams
layers of people and things

there is no whether
just distractions of living
there is no weather

kaeru is Buddha
as all things are everything
I am just a point

brilliant for a brief moment
like the power of lightning

there is no weather
illumination from storm
there is no whether

Part 9 : ST. James Special 83 (CD)

Part 9

white falling water
kaeru looks wistfully but
stays in the calm pool

I dip my feet allowing
the days dust to settle... down

reflections of self,
sky, dreams; broken by the clouds
white falling water

kaeru, I wonder
resting by flower blossoms
knows that spring returned

winter hangs in the air still
chilling skin, yet the ice breaks

CD 426 Temple 68

kaeru stays hidden
breadcrumbs for the birds - who catch
the crusts in mid-toss

land art by man or nature
haiku is found everywhere

the crusts in mid-toss
breadcrumbs for thoughts - I catch
monks' orange movement

kaeru watches the
slow movement of her dinner
after spider eats...

after spider eats...
with the quick movement of frog
kaeru has her fill

CD 423 Temple 65

almost full worm moon
illuminates the stone steps
weary feet will rest

once the goal up, is attained
quietly rest with kaeru

weary feet will rest
compassionate we pilgrims
will share our stories

(c) JP/davh
