WWP 144: A renga...conversation

http://wewritepoems.wordpress.com/2013/02/27/prompt-144-its-post-your-poems-day/

A renga...conversation

are they mine can I

the ramblings that are scrawled across a page
say I own them much less that
captured thoughts acting like little flashes of lightning
I have borrowed them?
~~~
do I have one muse or am
crayon, pencil, pen, printed or either ink flowing from my fingers
I the script of many voices?
~~~
how can I choose one
the second definition of *poet takes seventeen words
word to define me, other
+haiku is only one style I employ to get my ‘points’ across
than one word; poet?

(c) JP/davh

*a person who has the gift of poetic thought, imagination, and creation, together with eloquence of expression.

+Some American Japanese style haiku still use the system of counting seventeen syllables to pen a thought.

SW 97: Winged Messenger

http://sundaywhirl.wordpress.com/2013/02/24/wordle-97/
discipline, pieces, stealing, heroic, moment, fly,
prophets, limits, gazing, patience, tears, sublime

Winged Messenger

gazing prophets with discipline
shed heroic tears as they
salt the sublime puzzle pieces
with patience - they are held
trapped, and rapt in their silence of
repeated rote prayers humbled in
knowing that one of their number
will be infected before the dawn’s rising,
then in the briefest of blind moments
the death of night comes stealing -
a message of limits dictated by the gods
delivered by the bite of a single fly...

WWP 143 & WG'Broken': Tomboy Trial

WWP The First Kiss
http://wewritepoems.wordpress.com/2013/02/20/prompt-143-its-post-your-poems-day/

Tomboy Trial
I wasn’t ready
that’s what I remember
kind of a role reversal
he even carved our initials
in a heart in a tree - poor tree.

I wasn’t ready
for what he said
declaring I was to be the first
in this forest under that tree
the carved heart - poor heart.

I wasn’t ready
didn’t quite trust that I was the first
I knew I wouldn’t be the last
perhaps he collected carved hearts?
Or just girls hearts...poor girls.

I wasn’t ready
So I said no - later, years later I found out
That mystery boy/man married and divorced
While I moved on, ready for solidarity -
thought I’d easily forget - poor him.

I wasn’t ready
for the haunting...the not ever knowing
what could have been...in forested house
at the end of a dirt road - by the cold lake
I just know I don’t ever have to say; poor me.

Sunday Whirl 96 Short: Elfje Quad Wave

http://sundaywhirl.wordpress.com/2013/02/17/wordle-96/

under, naked, scurries, birth’s, imaginary, hiding,
door, faces, root, candlelight, lack, held

An Elfje Quad Wave:

imaginary
candlelight hiding
under the door
birth’s naked fears - lacking
substance

wanting
to root in reality...
scurries one’s courage
as neon
flashes

reflecting
blinking shades
of brilliant reds
upon closed eyelids -
vacant

expressionless
sleeping faces of children
shuffled like pawns
held in
check

(c) JP/davh
Perhaps a tad dark? Illusions to the original purpose of fairy tales...to scare children into
submission - not the animated tales of Pixar or Disney where everything ends happily. After reading it to myself I think it could also fit into the modern day current news of  ‘trafficking’ children. Egads this explanation probably has more words than the verse!

WWP 142: Charmed and Lucky Too!

http://wewritepoems.wordpress.com/2013/02/07/prompt-142-once-upon-a-time/

A Slightly Different; Look Before You Leap:

Charmed and Lucky Too!
One minute you are in your fine waistcoat and spats playing for
a sophisticated crowd and then we spontaneously combust
into one heck of a great jazz jam session - That’s pure magic!

Fiddle me this young Grasshopper, Grandfather said stroking
the handle of his umbrella that he sometimes used as a walking
stick - Who should happen to walk into our fine establishment
but a beauty in blue. Gorgeous wings like you wouldn’t believe.

A fella can fall hard and fast...but I gotta tell ya kiddo,
Take in the whole picture. All the sparkles and the wand...
They just disappeared when I looked into those big baby blues.
Even if we were never meant to spend the rest of our lives together,
Well you know you’d do anything for that kind of a lady...

And I did...Now you might think you know where this is going. But I
didn’t have to do anything under the table, no shady business. I just
had to be the conscious voice for a wooden boy. Yes, just like that
little one carved by Gepetto for me on the mantle, next to my top hat.

A puppet without strings...really. You doubt me?
I see you giggling - you think only your grandmother can
tell tall tales? She’s read you Pinocchio before hasn’t she?
Did you ever wonder why she calls me Jiminy - I am that Cricket!

And I could see my grandparents winking at each other...
I’d say they were living happily ever after.

SW 95 Non-story: 'Current'

http://sundaywhirl.wordpress.com/2013/02/10/wordle-95/

courting, rare, openings, bathe, plume, coral,
ball, terms, bottle, incident, thread, dry

‘Current’

rare coral on the royal reef
the thread of life dispensed by a plume
from openings to bathe each other
and thread a new generation of life
by courting the moon on her terms...
an incident once witnessed
unlikely to be forgotten - and yet
bouncing gently like a ball - the message
in the corked bottle stays dry.

“My love for you is boundless like the stars
reflected on the calm ocean waters - I can be
saved by the magic pearl...the one seed grain
that your memory holds dear - throughout the
the layered years...fondly, remember me...”

When she wrote the words, after dining with the
captain that had her abducted - she never expected
them to be found, though she knew they would be
forever engraved upon her true lover’s heart....

With Real Toads: A Garland Cinquain

http://withrealtoads.blogspot.com/2013/02/weekend-mini-challenge-cinquain.html

An attempt at a Garland Cinquain inspired by Hannah:

rustle
naturalist
the ink spun of your soul
words like butterflies in your net
captured

delight
with abandon
the nesting of your thoughts
words like spring breezes enveloped,
saved

light up
with sweet gesture
harmonious summer
gardens as golden honey is
combed

prepare
as the autumn
leaves dance - stock your larder
with imagination to spare -
insight

lighting
winter shadows
let us bask together
as we turn the pages of our
living

rustle
with abandon
harmonious summer
with imagination to spare -
living

Tuesday Tryouts: A Pair of Disjointed 'Wings'

For Tuesday Tryouts
http://margoroby.wordpress.com/2013/02/05/tuesday-tryouts-lets-fly/

A Pair of Disjointed ‘Wings’

I
Flight
Running
Away - towards freedom
- Which, “is just another word for nothing left to lose...”
More songs from the radio
‘Rocket Man’ - and not being who
“...They think I am...”

Finding truth in a voice belted out of a stereo speaker
The singer searcher, preaching, reaching
realizing that it really is true...that
_____________feet____________________
“In dreams your         never touch the earth...”

II
Trying so hard to believe
And then for the briefest of moments
Watching the stars speed by
-Sitting on the moon-
When fear and disbelief curdled in your veins
When you hadn’t worried or thought of breath -
But the moment is  - gone
And your head slams into realities’ pillow...

An Elfje and On Being Kinetic

Honoring...

http://subhanzein.wordpress.com/

(an Elfje)

electric
positive, evocatively
charged emotions, teaching
reaching, reacting, seeking, beyond
storytelling

On Being Kinetic...
We are all students, from our very first breath
Some get enough books others get stories
And if we are lucky we get both...

We are all teachers, artists molding whatever our medium
Clay, paint or words that express what we can not speak
Because only with the sculpting can our thoughts be completed

We are all artists working with the priceless and valued
Gift of life - some of us are lucky enough to have an audience
That attempts to understand our passions and share our smiles...

SW94 Judgement

http://sundaywhirl.wordpress.com/2013/02/03/wordle-94/

miserable, fuss, wish, go, again, interest
bust, figure, prove, straight, enough, sweet

Judgement
Only you can wish to be miserable and fuss
what is your true interest, what do you want to prove?

The lass seems sweet enough, yet again you go
trying to bust her figure and send her straight to hell!

Is it just because you lack your own faith that you
must convict another who you think threatens you?

And yet the argument fell silent upon deaf ears, as
the innocent child was tied to the stake and burned.

The angered Angel took her gentle soul straight through
St. Peter’s Gate - and adorned her with wings and halo.

Thanks Brenda...I really like The Mentalist, and I think it was your
cackling laughter in your Early Words e-mail that led to this ‘redemption’ piece :)

One Thousand Times Over...

http://margoroby.wordpress.com/

One Thousand Times Over...
Explanations, explorations, introductions
Expanding the horizon and endless web
That connects poets and writers souls
Could there ever be enough words to say
One thousand times over; Thank you.

there are no miles
that separate what fate gifts
every season shines

Does it matter if winter is another six weeks
Or if spring will be early this year because
In our heart of hearts it is always summer
Even in our autumn years....my friend -
One thousand times over; Thank you.

Oh,
Great Promptress
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays
you are Master Po.

Four Reflections

http://heartstonefeathers.com/2013/01/17/a-flight-feather-of-a-different-kind/

Four Reflections
At two in the eastern sky half of a
Waning Wolf Moon looks like a tilted bowl
Somewhere on that silver surface is
A Peregrine Falcon feather
Left there in 1971 by the astronauts of Apollo 15

I hadn’t met you yet...my love
Thoughts were far from dating days
Married ways, children grown
Enough to have their own
And a suburban home on the cities edge

At two in the eastern sky half of a
Waning Wolf Moon - I would like to think
Somewhere shines upon sleeping
Pairs of Peregrine Falcons that
Grace the clear skies here and now...

On good clear days in all seasons -
I have collected a few feathers
That have fallen from the skies and
Wonder if any could be from one of
My majestic feathered falcons...

(and an Elfje)

plumage
of one
Peregrine Falcon
lies silently on the
