disentangled

in autumn, here the
nests become empty homes
to those who migrate
birds flocking, flying south

some birds stay all year
but when a strong wind blows, they
rebuild fallen nests

I found a nest;
mud, twigs, pine needles
belonging to a robin?
dislodged from an oak

transfigure

dreamscapes, dream escapes parade
through the chilling night
haunting visions replay dismay
reach through for dawn

symbols, cymbals crash
behind a dreamers closed eyes
fall dawn arrives ...late

gather candles, dispel shadows
flip on light switches
let the dew wash
over your sleepy face

the small brown cowbird
lays her egg in
another nest to be
raised by another avian

that little spotted
egg shell I found, hadn’t hatched -
taught me a lesson

nature has unique ways
for some of her
creatures to survive - though
sometimes they do not

a door, ajar

I could have, but
I let him, get
the stuff that removes
the squeak from hinges

so Little Miss can
rest without the squeak that was
coming from the door...

through the backyard jungle
(needs mowing this weekend)
the sun shines through -
muddy creek fishbowl bottom...

we see a school of
fish munching on the algae

Little Miss and I
(high step, leaf crunch)
back to the house
for our own lunch

today I wonder if
