three thoughts on egress 11.30 CD 615

three thoughts on egress  11.30 CD 615
1
the beginning of
a journey to returning
home - ends are like that

promises fulfilled; and yet
so many questions

ends are like that - home
returning from a journey
even after years

*
2
letting go,
moving on - accepting
the new season

death makes room for birth; still it
is sad to see a bare tree

the new season
making room - accepting
darker daze

*
3
our nature reaches
for that which is just distant
is that what hope is?

high price of paradise : CD 614

high price of paradise
series for CD 614 11.29

too early the cock
on Maui crowed - long day
there, that paradise

the stars told different stories
petroglyphs hid in damp caves

the price of food brought
in from the mainland and sold
to tourists was high

natives held their own, barely
as commercialism held sway

there, that paradise
long day, on crowded Maui
Eden for a few

©JP/dh

Note:
We went to Maui for a week for our 25th
wedding anniversary over ten years ago.
I still find inspiration from that visit.
Where we were, cocks and chickens
roamed the streets freely, we did wonder
on our own a bit, but as with any tourist
destination - commercialism has a deep
grasp as history takes a backseat.

November breath
and breadth chills to the
deepest marrow

autumns’ colors fell; bare are
fields, trees; the heart warming sun

11.25 ...each illuminating... CD 612

11.25 ...each illuminating... CD 612 lantern

dotting the shore
each one unique; lighthouses
large lanterns

unlike its smaller cousin -
guiding ships to safe harbor

small lanterns
each illuminating one
small piece of pathway

unlike its larger cousin -
guiding ships to safe harbor

soft glow in the dark
grows strong as we get closer
points to Nirvana...

11.24 ....to dreamland gone... CD 611 Sylph

11.24  ....to dreamland gone...   CD 611

once home safe;
the family that gathered -
she let the sky fall

in-laws, siblings
cousins, couples, babes
to dreamland gone

when the wind
from corners warm brought
rain instead of snow

©JP/dh

Note: unseasonably warm last night.
And even into this morning: 62 F or 16.6
Much better that the 16 F or  -6.6 last week.

11.23 ...touche... CD 610

11.23  ...touche...   CD 610

every Thanksgiving
the table transforms; faces, plates
location and time

some will not return
how can we tell them that we
believe they are here

the young ones fidget
unable to comprehend
the important dance

as they learn to jump
try to defy gravity
with all of their might

yet they are thankful
to be caught by loving arms
before reaching ground

11.22 ...dolled up... Sparkling Stars 13/ CD

11.22 ...dolled up...  Sparkling Stars 13/ CD

(haiku series)

Lucy and Ricky
separate beds - for TV
different dolls they

generational
to be so separated
or just for TV

where was compassion
to be so scrutinized and
expected to live

always dolled up for
many cameras, judged by
magnifying glass

nothing left to guess
imagination, caution
tossed into the wind

©JP/dh

Note : my first thoughts were of the TV show ‘I Love Lucy’
Perhaps not at all in the theme of the prompt but I ran with it.
Thinking of really any actors so much in the ‘limelight’ that they
have no privacy. Different public ‘Dolls’.

11.20 Lone Great Blue

11.20 Lone Great Blue
(My attempt at an Ovillejo:)

Across the creek no bird sings;
Why have wings
I wonder is there some cruel knot -
if they cannot
be used to take one to a warmer Eden
give you freedom?
Is there justification to be stuck in this season?
In the middle of November still -
seeing the heron, still gives me a thrill.
Why have wings if they cannot give you freedom?

 ©JP/dh
With thanks to introducing the form and further explanation;
Please see: Debi’s : Magical Thirteen

“Great blue herons, those tall gray waders that patrol streams and lake shores, are a puzzle. They are abundant along the Florida and Gulf coasts in winter, and yet there are always a few that winter as far north as Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. As long as open water remains, their favorite food — fish — is abundant.”

11.19 haiku series: ...until...    (two prompts)

once green the chestnut
at dusk is withered; brown, gone,
buried by squirrel

dawns’ balloon sun hides
in the chill of this winter
fifteen degree - morn

layer your clothing
huddle in the crowd, stay warm
until blossoms bloom

11.18 ...belief... CD 606

11.18 ...belief...  CD 606

lone pennies found,
feathers and butterflies
you are there

maybe not, but belief
that’s what counts, right.
©JP/dh

Note: In my travels over the weekend,
I found a few stray coins, feathers and
saw a beautiful single color yellow-orange
butterfly... Good to have some time off -

but also just as nice to be home...again.

11.16 Shadorma series: My Day : MLM prompt

3/5/3/3/7/5

11.16 Shadorma series: My Day

far from home
‘making due’ with you
always home
beside you
as we walked several miles
holding hands, my love

on the beach
you are patient
stopping here
and and there -
I pick up shells and feathers
snap pictures too

we slowly
stroll to up the road and back
stopping to
play mini
golf - ‘aces’: you got two and
I got one also

picked up my
mother at her place
then dinner
alfresco
with a view of the sunset;
gulf across the road

the waiter
reminded me of
Neil Patrick
Harris - young
man with a groomed mustache and
beard, was funny too.

too stuffed for
dessert, we rolled to
the rental
car to take
mom back to her place and then
to our hotel

too much sun
to many footfalls
we collapsed -
far from home
blissful to be together
you and me

(c) JP/dh

Note: not at home, might attempt the other
part of the prompt challenge another time.
If hubby gets out early we might have another
day together before we have to go ‘home’.
