SW 102 (short): Inspired

peak, powders, lost, calls, locks, pit,
moon, staff, stone, after, written, petals

Inspired

Moon garden petals taunt upon
their silver staff do pit their
wits with gently gnarled
stone offering up
lost voices...

Written in the peak of
midnight when the owl calls -
Powders of their stamen fall
seemingly lost ...

After dawn has arrived,
out of the locks of dreams
the fairies trod softly collect,
the verse, and bake them into
biscuits for the muses morning tea

Miz Q's: Pom-poms: A Hunting We Will Go...

Miz Q: Shake your Pom-poms

Give me a word for blue: azure / crimson
Give me a word for a light: inspiration / deflation
Give me a word for a pet: four paws / snake
Give me a word for an emotion: angst / euphoria
Give me a word for an unpleasant smell: cesspool / perfume
Give me a word for deity: Artemis / Apollo
Give me a word for a body part: funny bone / knocked noggin
- 7 -  Write 7 lines.
–OR– If you’re feeling energetic
For each of those, choose an opposite (lots of ways for things to be opposite. use whatever works for you). That gives you 14 words. Write a poem of 12-20 lines.

A Hunting We Will Go...

When Artemis and Apollo were children
They did not know they were Gods
They played from the dawn of azure skies
To the fall of crimson hued sunsets
The frivolous actions of the two siblings,
Depending on their mood of inspiration or deflation
Cause much angst and euphoria for human toys -
Funny bones rattled and knocked noggins abounded
When women were turned to cats with four paws
Daintily stepping in rose scented perfume or men were
Left limbless as slithering snakes left to slide deep
Into cesspools for being the cads that they were...

WD #216: Fad, Fade, Fading

Lasts...

Fad, Fade, Fading

scrawled in old symbolic renderings
the sand snatched every straight line and curve

all manor of paper was lost
everything was now ether air, electrical

contrasts in colors, bold and brilliant
or tiny legaleze texts that could be magnified

but she still knew how to actually form a word
with her hand, thought gnarled and athritic

and with a stick, some ocean scrap of treasure
coughed up and bleached bone dry...

she looked out across the salted sea,
thinking, as the gulls hung lullabies in the air...

that this was probably the last time they’d let her out
on her own - age does that, those last years scare

even the healthiest survivors - the ones who aren’t
yet addle brained to the point of reliving their last years

in what was probably the best days of their lives...
she actually, unknowingly wrote...the last word.

WWP 148: Elevated?

Elevated?

....The brass skeletons line up with their
symbols handy, opening a window to...
....the world that attempt to house ‘con-
tained intelligence’ - I wonder at times
how much my own fantasy catcher.....
....can hold while there are pause of re-
ality from the day stars and ticket-......
......takers and eye-catchers, I am dist-
racted by Stylus Scriptorius laying in....
wait, wanting once again to kiss sheets
.......of banana colored flats or any other
other willing charmed vessel bound......
by moleskine.

Process notes: This one was a fun challenge. I saw it first at Margo’s and set it aside. You know busy week and all...I’ll get around to it maybe...and they We Write Poems took it up so I gave it a second look. And at first I sat scratching my head. Rename things? After the first three it got easier and then I was working backwards writing the the new name before it’s original word. I often work backwards. Enjoy.

Daffy-nitions: Those things renamed

*alphabet letters - symbols; *blinking lights (the lights that tell you stuff is ‘On”)- day stars;
*computer screen - window to the world; *electronics - contained intelligence;
*house noise; clock and the sound and air through heat vents - ticker-takers, and eye-catchers; *journal -charmed vessel bound by moleskine; *keys - brass skeletons
*Kiss - write; *Legal Pad of lined paper - sheets of banana colored flats;
*my mind - fantasy catcher *Pen - stylus scriptorius; *silence - pauses of reality

Quickly: Bagged

Quickly Now For March 25th, 2013
Write two lines. Same length ( # words. # syllables. Or to the eye. Whatever works for you.) Subject is the same. One has quick sounds, the other, slow.

Bagged

The frozen turkey fought, was valiant, yet was tamed.
Basting on a mattress of vegetables, in the oven rest.

Dark Chocolate (#4 warm up)

#4
What’s your guilty pleasure?

Dark Chocolate

Dawn, he’s up and almost out the door
All alone with the newspaper - stretching,
Reaching...up to look out the picture window...
Kink in my neck, bunny slippers on my feet...

Chair welcomes me with waiting arms, fingers
Hover over the keyboard...it is my time...
Overview of my e-mail...mental checklist and
Chocolate...the bar retrieved from my hidden stash
Opened ...waiting for a break of  fingers-tip-tapping
Luscious caramel in this one...soon every bit,
All gone. Should I get that second one? I am
Trying to be healthier...so I reach for an apple.
Eventually my horde will run dry, but I’ll restock.

Serena Snashtwig...

Warm up three...

Generated name: Serena Snashtwig,  Use as Title: now write the poem...

Serena Snashtwig...

Made her home in an old hollow willow
embraced the younger trees along the bank
always asking first for this or than loose limb
and made all her furnishings out of young green arms

She might have been human once...
But that was long ago, before she lost sight
Of the castle that only reflected golden sunlight -
Inside the tapestries were frayed and faded

The old flour sacks were beaten by the brook - so many
times in washing that now they seemed as smooth
as spun cotton - She’d made the hem loose so she could
stuff thistle down between the layers when it got cold

Scavenging the forest floor of what was left from
Brother Bear and Sister Fox, she crafted doe-skin slippers
and with her own woven milkweed thread and bird bone needles
she decorated them with the remains of her broken abalone buttons.

There would be no more princes coming this way
Not since the kingdom fell...some old witch seeking vengence
About not being invited to her birth, that is if she remembered
The old stories that were once told...

Add Romance to the Dance

Thanks to the inspiration found here:

Add Romance to the Dance

Some schoolin’ you can’t get in a box
Some folks get by without wearin’ sox

Teachin’ and preachin’ don’t matter much
When the heart knows, how to with nature to stay in touch

Some rules are quite bendy
Some others are quite trendy

What did we all do before there was war
Living one day at a time being the only chore?

Some boarders just cannot be binding
Some truths, thought to balance can be quite blinding

Tolerance of those who are different should not be just in fables
Let us open our doors and spread the wealth of joy at all our tables

Wicked True

Thanks Jasmine...this one is for you!
Pop over to see the inspiration...she liked it so much I figured I'd share.

Wicked True

There was a little girl
Wednesday Friday Addams was her name
Not one to seek fortune
Just perhaps a little fame...

There was a little day
Friday was it was called
After a Norse Goddess
To whom many were enthralled

This is but a bit of their ‘her’story
Some may laugh and stutter
Perhaps you’ll be in the ambulance lorry
If too much electricity makes your heart a flutter!

Friday
The day in honor of the Norse goddess Frigg. In Old High German this day was called frigedag.
To the Romans this day was sacred to the goddess Venus, and was known as dies veneris.
French: vendredi; Italian: venerdi; Spanish: viernes. German: Freitag ; Dutch: vrijdag.

Frigg by Micha F. Lindemans

As the wife of Odin, Frigg is one of the foremost goddesses of Norse mythology. She is the patron of marriage and motherhood, and the goddess of love and fertility. In that aspect she shows many similarities with Freya, of whom she possibly is a different form.
She has a reputation of knowing every person's destiny, but never unveils it. As the mother of Balder, she tried to prevent his death by extracting oaths from every object in nature, but forgot the mistletoe. And by a fig made from mistletoe Balder died. Her hall in Asgard is Fensalir ("water halls"). Frigg's messenger is Gna, who rides through the sky on the horse Hofvarpnir. In some myths she was rumored to have had love affairs with Odin's brothers Ve and Vili.
Yes her full name is Wednesday Friday Addams!

Speaking the Same Language

Thanks again to Roxi for the inspiration (breathing together)

Speaking the Same Language

I stopped counting all the words I ever wrote
because I knew more were going to be inked
when you’ve been writing for almost as long
as you have been alive, poetic renderings
off of the fat and lean of life
you just breath
and sigh
ink

I stopped worrying about repeating titles, or even
for that matter giving titles or explanations for ink
because those who seek the same treasure
they know intuitively what is inside the box
even before they lift the lid
they just breath
and sigh
ink

I stopped trying to define and defend style or lack of it
because individual voices fluctuate, singing lullabies
durge, symphony, jazz - you name that tune - really -
as we have to live through poetic renderings
there just isn’t any choice
we just breath
and sigh
ink

WWP 147: Fading Light?

‘I always love poems that are echoes. And in a deepest sense, if you are able to distill some truth, some epiphany, from a poem, then it must have touched some core within you.’

An Elfje Echo Pair:
Fading light?

Advancing
Geriatric labels
Identify decades, years
Negotiating sanity with memories -
Going...?

I
didn’t think
I’d have something
an epiphany - an echo
me?

Notes: Seeing our elders age, that's when we finally age. Our hearts can be forever young...
But sometimes looking in the mirror...just makes you want to turn away...and cry. Especially when you see the strength of those you admire and love fade.

Love Poem: Just Desserts

Just Desserts

When in true love one dines
Each day is a delightful meal
The plate is always full
That any one day
Is equal or betters the next
As crumbs are kissed from
Our partners lips...
Each day is a celebration.

©JP/davh

Note: The inspiration for this love poem, came from another love poem.
I chose to post it here so perhaps others may also be inspired to
celebrate each and everyday with the ones they love.

For Roxi, a renga: strong soul spark...

http://roxistclair.com/2013/03/16/snowfeather/

For Roxi, a renga

strong soul spark, soothing
gentle touch embraces while
enveloping flight

trying to use descriptors
without repeating the words

enveloping flight
with stillness - while letting go
success at living
