aMUSEd : We Write Poems 154

aMUSEd

She says I do all the work,
because she was told
so long ago that she couldn’t
wouldn’t amount to anything...

So she says I should get all the credit
but I am only a tool in her hands
so long as she breathes creatively
and follows one word with another...

She even takes nightmares and twists them -
she believes light is needed to make shadow and
so long as the computer screen is backlit
and fingers tip tap, or pen permanently tattoos paper

So with some gentle encouragement from you
she will succeed beyond expectations, because
so long as monetary gains are not her main concern
she will continue to proceed enlightening those who read her

She might actually realize that somewhere
all of her parts are needed to make her whole -
So long as she finds enjoyment and pleasure -
I will be her strongest supporter; ergo I am *Id.

*Id are the instincts closely connected with the body

The Witness - Miz Q 27

Salesman...

The Witness

I’ve got more than what you’re selling
A different flavor for sure...
I becken no other with strict interpretations
Of man made written law

I’ve got my tether straight and true
A different twist in twine for sure
I preach no prejudice or damnation
Of man made written law

I’ve got the knowledge that you might object to
A different outlook of brimstone aflame
I will not curse you behind your back, burdened
Of man made written law

I’ve got my own confidence to say
A different day awaits you for sure...
I teach respect and honor, not fear
Of man made written law

I’ve got a good door and some sense too -
A different way to deal with how
I choose to not confront the steps you teach
Of man made written law

Absurd Visionary : WWP 153

*Absurd Visionary

If the human male
could but tarry
and bear a tear or two more
for the gift of Cupid’s arrow
would he then be so quick
to divorce, or force
his one sided views?

If the human male
could but marry
and bear equally
to hearth and home
would he then be so quick
to judge those whose
work he does not see?

If the human male
could but carry
and bear his offspring,
would then he be so quick
to offer daughters hands
in marriage or send sons
off to war?

~~~~~~~
Note: if two negatives equal a positive,
then what is two words
that mean impossible equal...
Does that make the impossible
possible no matter how improbable?
Preserved Life? Miz Q 23
A Cascade, a poetic form using line repetition
Preserved Life?
willfully wanton water cascades
exhausted in a heap river rafters sleep
journeys of liquid roads, do not exhaust the toads
up before dawn, gear sorted on the lawn
bound to and adventure, the die is cast
willfully wanton water cascades
rapidly sanity, whatever remained
along with everything salvaged over rapids -
exhausted in a heap river rafters sleep
at rivers edge they tie their knots
soulfully singing lullabies to the weary travelers
journeys of liquid roads, do not exhaust the toads
Note: Fried my brain yesterday...taking an easier stance, attempting to gently float today.
a group of toads is called a knot.
Work It, Word It, Dance : Quickly 20 projects prompt
Work It, Word It, Dance!
Surely being green could be without envy,
though cold the emerald is a warm stone of earth
Jealousy can be a fine tender, sparking action
Joie de vivre - but be careful of full blown flame!
See the frog, tortoise, even garden snake -
taste that apple, benefit from the Granny Smith
Smell the fresh scent, hear the crispness
Touch your soul to an ethereal Eden, be Eve -
Pumpkin went a waltzing even with two left feet
on the parquet dance floor tripped sentences into the night
One foot fall after another until heaven on earth was reached
at the altar in front of witnesses; repeats “I do”.
See the bee, the fly, even the snake oil salesman -
all wanting just a little bit of something in life that is sweet
Smell the grease, benefit from the turkey bacon, hear it sizzle
touch your taste buds ...see it fry in the morning skillet
Pumpkin went a waltzing, in a do-rag dusting mightily -
mites in sun rays stare beaming through the window
One year followed another until false retirement was reached
At the keyboard in front of no-one; repeats “I do”.
In that part of hazel, which is green, the eye spied
blinking in mezmorized belief that words could too sparkle
while winking with resounding disbelief that the spark ignited,
the flame lit the way and now this verse is complete.
Note: It ain’t quick when Quicky prompts it! At least not this one :)
I’m not sure if I got in all twenty or not. But stick a fork in me...I’m done (with this one).
I did have fun though.
An Elliptical Path - Miz Q 22: Earth Day
Earth Day
An Elliptical Path
The birds who have wings - do it
One at a time or in flocks - they do it
Each with their own feathers - they fly
Man together with many men - do it
Mostly in groups, some in troops - they do it
Often with only one fabricated pair - they fly
Off the ground, dreams take flight, oft encouraged - do it
Businesses expanding boundaries, selling their wares - they do it
Some crash land, while others - they fly
I watch you rise early, before the birds to catch a flight, in a mechanical
beast...deployed, employed - to save earned nickels and dimes so
maybe in our golden years, we too will be able to freely fly...
The birds have been our guides, bringing dreams of flight to reality
We all enjoy that sky view of the land and oceans blue
Seeking that distance -  but always returning to, our Mother; Earth.
Protect - do it!
Display, respect, save - can we do it?
The planet we share - in its’ flight...
"Curiouser and curiouser!" Miz Q 21
PROMPT TWENTY-ONE: MAGICAL ITEM  You’ve just been given a magical item, like an invisibility cloak, or those X-ray glasses; flying carpet, golden goose. Something from a different culture. Your choice. Tell us about it. Or yourself/the world in relation to it.
“Curiouser and curiouser!”
Along with the old copy of Alice in Wonderland,
which was preserved in an ornate wooden box,
that I purchased at the estate sale was something
that I believe the seller didn’t know was there...
I’ve always had a fondness for old books and boxes.
But it wasn’t until years later that while carefully handling
the old manuscript that I discovered the box had a false bottom of sorts.
It wasn’t very large but then it didn’t need to be. The almost
threadbare dark purple velvet cloth held something that was flat.
I sat at the dining room table, alone.
Hubby was off on a business trip and our warm and comfortable
nest was empty of our chicks. It was a lazy Saturday afternoon.
I had taken a pillowcase to place the book on,
and had been carefully inspecting the intricate box
when I must have triggered the hidden drawer...
The afternoon sun was low enough that the rainbows
from the crystals in the window landed on the object
and even through the cloth there was a slight reflection of light.
I retrieved some paper toweling so I could place and unwrap the object with care.
I thought about getting gloves of some sort...but my hands were clean...
one flip, two and there was a small shard of glass... no, it was a mirror.
Sort of a rectangle, not quite an oval about four inches by six.
Someone had taken the time to gild all the rough edges with a silver solder.
I could see the reflection of the chandelier.
I was hesitant to see my own reflection.
Alice had to touch the looking glass didn’t she...
was I ready for such an adventure?
