She Stands by the Sea Shore
Down along the Jersey shore route
Where the towns are only several blocks wide
Not far from Atlantic City
As the crow or perhaps the seagull flies
Is Lucy
Lucy was a restaurant, and once a home
Six stories high, but all the same quaint
Now some what of a museum
A traditional bungalow she ain’t
Is Lucy
You might wonder if there was a circus
Visiting the town of Margate
And left without all its’ animals -
Started as a gimmick for real estate...
Is Lucy
Over one hundred years old
Struck by lightning, almost torn down
Revamped and re-fitted, saved by her community,
Ninety tons of wood and steel - proud elephant,
Is Lucy

You had a lot of fun with this one, Jules. There are certain landmarks for each of us, along the paths we travel. They are not necessarily important to others, like Lucy must be, but hold special meaning none the less.

I've never seen anything like Lucy the elephant. What a nice poem to be enshrined in some part of the building. Smiles, Jules.
