Sunday Whirl Wordle #67 Number 8 in Story series A
When a Nag is Not a Horse...
Johannah enjoyed the new yet often strange towns she was riding through
The passage was not rough and became easier the closer she seemed to get
To the now wizard free kingdom - She had a sublime notion that she might settle
Into some robust occupation freed of the memory of her wayward sister
Too clearly Jo remembered the uncontrolled frenzy that lit up Regina’s eyes
When she held the warrior sword that she would use to kill their mother, the former queen
Regina would attack everything she did with a cold heart, each and every fancy ball
Would be a calculated maneuver to channel information and funds for future campaigns
Those who had yet to fall would soon be falling in line, or be towing the line
A cruel short tethered leash that would choke and restrict the freedom that had existed
Jo could only hope that once she felt safe enough, far enough and perhaps joined by
The strength of good magics that she might one day return home
However every time those thoughts escaped from that dark shadowed corner of her mind
Jo would brandish them back - her soul still pining for her lost mother, though that woman
Was possibly only a pawn on the great Chess Board game of life and Regina took full advantage
Of controlling almost every piece that strayed upon her playing field
As Jo neared the kingdom of the once sleeping princess she dismounted her steed Booker -
That is if the tavern stories were true - the once great evil that held her was broken
By a child, once called Here-boy - First she was to seek out Morganna the younger princess who had escaped capture by pretending to be a shepherdess...

SW #66 Enchanted
Number 6 (the 7th piece actually) in the Series B set
Enchanted
Father was not one to be melancholy,
He and Mother had lived quite long and had
Shared in rosy, erotic moments, those were indeed special times -
In high autumn grasses - though they remained childless, then.
Their guises now as humans in this seemingly timeless fling
Would always pale to their true nature and love for each other
They were good at keeping secrets, then and now...
Keeping a low cover was why he chose to work
In pewter instead of gold - no sense to stray from a simple craft,
One that provided security in this peopled community
No fancy powders for their simple enchantment spells,
One human child at a time, love them well and let them go
Porter was one of many, and now Johnny-boy fine sons indeed -
Nasty wizards did not help the cause of unexplainable magics
With a swing in his step Father joined Mother
As together they touched the emerald that hung from her neck
And from the gentle green glowing watched the ocean spray
Rise gently and glisten upon Porter’s brow, he was standing next to a huge man
Both smiling from a shared joke that the two parents could not hear...
But it was enough, this boy was happy and that made them glad
As time passed soon enough they’d be spying Johnny-boy this way too
Process notes: I did have in my mind to write about Father, and this week the Wordles made it easy. I have yet to determine just ‘What’ Father and Mother are...
But when you write fantasy...well you get to be creative.

We Write Poems #114 Engraved
Read the reeds as they sway
Read the leaves of trees
And too the paper leaves - some bound in books
The words I wrote while living...
They were and are a part of me, my gift to you
See with your heart
See deserts, rain forests and oceans
And too the waves of amber grains
The world created for the living...
Gems and jewels with imperfections, so many gifts
Rest a while as you visit
Rest among your dreams
And too remember all I was - my hopes bound within
The words I wrote while living
They helped to set me free, my gift to you
On this stone Engraved...Poetically Yours,

WG TT: A Different Wonderland
A Different Wonderland
‘So’ if she spoke that word out loud he’d say; “(Sew,) ...a needle pulling thread”
She, would reply with; “La, a note to follow ‘so’ - that would
Set them both into uncontrollable giggles and he’d have to help her
Off the floor, after she’d finish gasping for breath - it didn’t take much
To see they enjoyed each other, their private jokes continued to
Work for them even after thirty years after tying the knot
And even with the ‘downs’, there were just more ‘ups’
Very attuned to the same wave length - sometimes it was just scary
Soon anyone in their company would feel comfortable - even when they
Finished off each others sentences - there was never any malice
‘Off with her head,’ he would tease and she’d just cut the cards knowing she was
The Queen of Hearts in his life - And he was the lucky rabbit she would follow, always.
Cake along with humble pie would be served after the game concluded
JP/davh
“So she set off to work, and very soon finished off the cake.”

SW Wordle 65: Evening the Odds
Evening the Odds (Story verse B/4b)
While the swells and sea spray crashed on the deck above
It seemed to Porter that gravity held the ship in place better
than any anchor at the end of a chain - quite thankful to be Chan’s aide
And not have to swab the deck, he much preferred creating new relishes
For the crew to try - Most often he would blush but it wasn’t true humility
Chan would laugh and say “Himility was a good thing for any man to learn.”
Porter enjoyed all manner of work in the galley - his memories would flicker -
Mother teaching him how to use various plants to their best advantage
Especially those that others thought were of no use and often would gift to her
She taught him how to grittle, seemingly brittle spices to add to the scrapes
Of meats she would griddle - the heat of the pan would snap-crack the fat
Odd memories triggered with all the foods he handled
Especially with the repeated gentle refrains of Chan’s instructions...
The huge man had not only befriended Porter, but lay claim to almost
All of the lads time - never before had he had such a willing student
Who was also able to teach him a thing or two...and yet he wondered
Why the lad had left his home, when he so fondly spoke of his Mother -
We all make our own choices - Chan was lucky to have such a friend

flicks, swells, spray, grittle (yes a real word!), gravity, plant, trigger, relishes, chain, crack, humility (himility), refrain, claim (brittle, griddle... and swab)
JP/davh
Process notes: When I first saw this list in its original form that little light bulb above my head flickered and I had and I knew I had some direction and a story continuation. With the sidebar conversation of typos, and mis-reads...my word list grew - Thanks Teri for introducing us to a new word. No offence intended to anyone who has trouble pronouncing words...but it worked for my story verse. And a special nod to MMT for the addition of ‘swab’. How could I not include it in a story about a ship at sea? This belongs in Story Verse B after number 4 so 4b it is. I can’t seem to get my the title of my pages to change...this is the correct link to this series.
I've been asked why Porter left...that's in this story verse (the second of this series b):

Process notes: I wasn’t sure about this prompt. Too many instructions. But after printing them and moving slowly through it... I think I did OK with the natural opposites of oil and water.
Thanks for the gentle push, Margo.
