Just strolling in protected forest lands is a choice.
Uphill and down felt in our older bones, especially
our knees...to those scenic views of the rivers that
remind us in fact to keep our blood flowing

paths with those you love, just right;

If you want to do something and you feel in your bones
that it’s the right thing to do, do it.
Intuition is often as important as the facts.

Walking into a nursery school as a grandparent...
brings back some interesting memories.
The fun sing songs, stories and special programs.
Hoping that your own grandchild has fond
comfortable memories of security and love.

how gracious the
generations can be to
count creatively

The teacher had grandparents visit. And then
help little ones with counting their snacks.
Some children had more confidence than others -
Just give them time they were only three years old

Walking the poetic road often the words are
full of emotion as well as interpretation;
if you want to write about blue moons -
do a little research before entering the
realm of science fiction... And then have fun.

Read carefully anything that requires your signature.
Remember the big print giveth and the small print
taketh away.

Confident, Now
(mini haibun)

While walking through life I have been told
that I look like both some flattering as well
as unflattering people. I am an individual.

Effective Cost?
(a haibun)

Most of the times, these days anyway, the stroll to the rural
mailbox at the end of the drive is not all that exciting. Bills and
advertisements abound. Most of which gets recycled. Today
will be a little brighter when this morning a rebate form gets
placed in the same said box for pick up. Our utility company
will be issuing a rebate for the new water heater. And next
February come tax time Uncle Sam will also credit our taxes.
Maybe even now, every month we’ll actually see a decrease
in our utility usage with the installation of the new energy
efficient water heater.

decreases in size; so we
would like to believe

Household?
(a haibun)

Just a little walk, a stroll from the washer to the line;
strung in the laundry room to hang dungarees...
Wait what is this, the rug beneath my feet goes:
squishy squash...no where near the washer?
Uh oh, the water heater tank...has tanked.
Switch off the breaker, turn off the water and
call the ‘Boss’ - to actively seek out a replacement!

One Yesterday
(a haibun for 9/11)

Some days are slower than others. We travel less. Perhaps it
is on those days we can visit our memories and think about
what happened five, ten or fifteen years ago. Remembering
joy is only possible when we also remember sadness.

The heavy burden of those who chose to believe that they
were doing something of value by taking away so many lives
that had nothing to do with their own internal warring.
Can everyone be persuaded to believe in and pray for peace?

grasses grow and sway;
some flowers are placed on graves -
is there peace with death?
