“Now is the Time : 170 Ways to Seize the Moment”
By Patrick Lindsay
Now is the time ...:To choose freedom.

“The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage.”
~ Thucydides (460 BCE - 404 BCE    BCE=Before the Common Era)

Moral Code?

Courage
Can be
Inaction; no response
To attempts at goading
Gossip

I have, fortitude,
attitude, guts, glory; for
my own story

Happiness
Can be
Gained; overflowing joy,
Accepting that which is
Important

I have little
Regrets of what was; so
I progress forward

Freedom
Can be
Found in art;
Decorative words that bring
Awe

Now is the time ...: to read a classic.

“A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly
exhausted. You should lead several lives while reading it.
~ William Styron (1905-2006)

Great Books, Second Looks

I’ve read at least ten out of thirty on the list...
Some more modern than others that one might
Be surprised to find, just because a classic by someone's definition
That I read somewhere should be at least over fifty years old...

Becoming them, each
And every character ~ to
Breath their fire in dreams

To be refreshed in waking
In the waterfall of dawns

Believing that we
can find some truth between the
Flipping of pages

I have heard of, seen or have some knowledge of several
Of the other titles on a list that bespeaks of thirty literary classics.
Some I have no desire to read, and others I think I would
Enjoy if I read them once again.

Now is the time ...: To be passionate about your work.

“I do take my work seriously and the way to do that is to not take
yourself too seriously.” - Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman (1946 - 2016)

Nonsensically Sincere

genuine
the mystery
as to why
acceptance of self is
faltered

me, myself, and I
tripping through the daisies
err goes my ego

faltered
in believing we must
always please or
be someone
else

Now is the time ...: to go organic.

“When we heal the earth, we heal ourselves.”
David Orr (1944 - )

Help Find Order in Natural Chaos

On the shelf in the stores
We get to choose to pay now or later...

Some of us can grow our own but most of us must
Harvest our supplies from others production.

Be it animal, vegetable or mineral, one can make smart choices, we
Can live comfortably within our means...learn to renew and recycle

Start with simple steps, drink more water,
Use cloth shopping bags, eat more fruit

Respect how things are made - while appreciating advances.
There is a place for all peoples, things and science.

ik 365 for April 2016 b

This Sunday using Kipfer’s book for ‘Instant Karma’
ik 365

pine and spruce?
(three haiku 3,5,3)

weekend sleep
no alarm clock buzz;
just bird chirp

continue
list of things to do
in and out

clear corners
of empty cobwebs;
wake with spring

©JP/dh

Pine and spruce are trees but also mean;
Pine: yearn or fret/ spruce: neat, smart, trim

Inspired by: Get the cobwebs out of your head.
From: Instant Karma by Barbara Ann Kipfer
8,879 ways to give yourself and others
good fortune right now.
*
Karma is cause and effect. Dharma means cosmic law.
Yoga is enlightenment through movement and Tao is the
practice of acting in harmony with the fundamental essence
of everything you encounter.

Note: My haiku (or other forms) are my interpretations
or of how I might put the inspirational sentence
into practice, for me.  Also, I am going in my own order.
