WWP 130: Style?

http://wewritepoems.wordpress.com/2012/11/07/prompt-130-its-post-your-poems-day/

Style?
I love books.
I have books.
Shelves filled with books.
Mysteries, recipes, fantasy.
Children’s stories, filled with facts and history.
And yet...I have few perhaps on poetry
none that I can find on a particular poet

Which you might think strange
because I write the stuff
Have been for years, decades in fact
only gently following
those forms between lines - rules
some of the regulated rules
some rhyming rules

I’ve been reading more poems
from other poets, their poems
heartfelt and full of emotions and life, poems
thanks to the internet
and groups that encourage
trying new approaches
so I too spread my wings

However - I’ve only got this;
These words slowly tripping
to tell you this week that I’ve been here
and I’m a fish out of water
because once again I’ve broken the rules
I am perhaps a fool - forgone the rules
choked on and spit out the rules...

I offer no excuses - my voice
changes often, that is, my muses’ voice
the one that is my heart voice
varies, and it just is what it is
I might reflect and copy
or try to answer another poet
but not often...

Sunday Whirl #81: Transformations

C3 Transformations

Johnny slowly took in each and every word that Mother and Father
tried to convey with the most upbeat of intentions, but the truth
was there; and it was with a small swelling of pride that he
was to be a part, perhaps a key to restoring natural balance.

Among the more wondrous things to happen during their secret talk of
revelations was that Mother’s Emerald that she always wore showed
Johnny that he was part of a larger family - he had so many siblings
but he unconsciously scrambled closer when Porter’s face came into view

He learned that his brother was not fond of the tumultuous depths
but endured the time in the galley with his friend Chan, a cook.
One day he hope that Porter would return to this shore, enable a fraternal
meeting - perhaps help fight the wrath that haunted the nights deepest dreams.

Johnny leaned in closer - unconsciously wanting to hug Porter for the
gift of his new life - he joined Father and Mother’s touching of the Charm -
and it seemed as if music played with the voices in the ships galley as
Porter and Chan shared laughter at the punchline of a finished joke.

Briefly Porter’s expression changed as he seemed to be staring straight
at Johnny - it was difficult to flee from this magical experience.
Johnny simply said; “Thank you,” as Mother and Father together withdrew
all of their connections to the stone. This was something new for them too.
