Sparkling Stars 4

new moon has no light
yet her power draws waves and
ink from poets pens

the night deepens
darker and darker the sky
without the streetlights
the night sky looks like a light show
the full moon and thousands of stars

meigetsu ya ike o megurite yo mo sugara

the autumn full moon:
all night long
I paced round the lake.

tears of joy
spilled into the old pond -
the moon's reflection

a grief fills that place

a grief fills that place
where her love should have gone; and
so tears are still shed

disease grew. she left babies
no comfort can match her loss

heeding haiku with Ha : foundation cracks...

instinctual thoughts and raw creations

foundation cracks...

foundation cracks there
stare reflected back at me
wrinkled and spotted

banners; ashen hair color
finds no fault with my aging

CD : GW : 23 Honor little creatures

Our host ask us to write a haibun about little creatures...

weavers

there was that late summer it must have been
that I was inclined to honor the silks they spun
from the silver maple to the ground
the tether threads several feet long -
when daily in the morning before the dew had dried
I would in leisurely comfort stride
to gather some of the black and red raspberries
in an attempt to gather enough to make some jam -
that I would carefully look so as not to break
that carefully crafted food catcher of those arachnids
even with their legs spread were no bigger than my
pinky fingernail - were they the offspring of that
on large spider who took refuge in the spare trash bin
that stood upright mouth agape under the house eave?

scurry hide quick
the giant is coming, now!
thought the spiderling

CD : 551 : abandoned

let lay chestnut shells
hollowed out by squirrels
abandoned trail

abandoned trail
overgrown with weeds, broken
bridge removed and gone

bridge removed and gone
hollowed out ground at the banks
by the secret creek

by the secret creek
solace found, as the seasons
leaves are shedding there

leaves are shedding there
by hollowed out chestnut shells -
migration begins
