Ik 384 for July 2016 b

Ik 384
yesterday and this morning

five fleeting seconds...
to see the heron landing
long strides to shelter?

the wooded area, there
at the end of the backyard

or to hunt rising
waters of the gully, there
swelled with summer rain

summer sliced and diced

In the still heavy
air of summer broken by
insects buzzing - rest

close your mouth, open your ears
and please do nurture nature

The clock is ticking
The motors hum, mum, humming
Dreams mumble, whisper

resonance

lazy white clouds scuttle
across a blue atmosphere;
seen through green tree leaves

taming the junk and antiques
more floor space and ground is found

papers from years past
become stray musical chords
for the earth to play

fallen fruit
(a mini haibun)

Most of my pacing was back and forth to the clothes line.
Or to the porch or the extra bedrooms where the chicks
used to roost...where quite a bit of an odd memory or craft
supply is stored to sort through what is and what will be
recycled or just for lack of any other use or purpose - pitched
All that before and during the two storms, the second doing
some overnight disarray to the garden potted on the driveway...

a few peppers and
one green tomato taken
in too early

older, wiser?
(a mini haibun)

A few morning errands, pacing ourselves in the heat.
The stock on the shelves, not there...all bought up.
So we head home in a different direction to stop at
the new antique shop that’s been open for a while -
while I oohed and aahed at the displays on two floors
in rooms tucked here and there; I left empty handed.
Well that’s not entirely true, I left holding his...

by pausing for me,
he melted my heart; my love
grows as the years pass

summer Saturday
(a mini haibun)

humidity makes us see shelter after walking the lawn behind
the mower. we pile like wet mops, to ride to the cool movie
theatre and travel into the fantasy of outer space...then we
must land back home - where the swallowtail roam seeking
the shelter of shade lured by fragrance. I wonder if that bug
was one of the caterpillars who ate my parsley... how many
years ago was it we watched eggs hatch, critters crawl?

yellow and black flutter,
faster than a crawl; flying
to swallow nectar

love was in the air.

just natural wonders witnessed

Just Karma 134 (N11) for July 2016 b Poets for Peace

Just Karma 134

Answering the Call...
Perhaps it is true that we only change worlds.
Often as simple as just changing a few words.
Words that are impeccable; written after thinking.
That is what a poet can do, for those who actively
seek and pursue a greater peace.

One can see poetry in nature, the visit of the heron -
This morning at the creek reminding me to live in the
gift of the present; while I enjoy my solitude there are
times that an individual needs to be part of a team to
seek and pursue a greater peace.

There is life. Life that is precious, sacred and blessed. It is
only a few that take to imposing their impossible dreams
of fruitless domination of all that lives to mask their own
insecurities because they have failed to learn how to
seek and pursue a greater peace

year after year...
“two eyes, two ears and
one mouth”; the conversation
remains one sided

©JP/dh ( haiku)

“Conversation was never begun at once, nor in a hurried manner.
No one was quick with a question, no matter how important, and no
one was pressed for an answer. A pause giving time for thought was
the truly courteous way of beginning and conducting a conversation.
Silence was meaningful with the Lakota, and his granting a space of
silence to the speech-maker and his own moment of silence before
talking was done in the practice of true politeness and regard for the
rule that, “thought comes before speech.”

Touché
Has my purpose to you been to be your foil?
To always compare to what you did not have?
But then to expect me to always provide from
the pockets that you thought were so deep...

opposites can be
complimentary yet we
push ourselves away

What makes this the year for you to reach
beyond your consciousness and expect the
conformation of a relationship without any
confrontation, conflict or confusion of fact?,

Every disease an herb to cure it,
